If ABS by Allen Schwartz could be summed up in one phrase, it would be affordable luxury. Allen Schwartz, design director and founder of the Los Angeles based brand, has taken high fashion off the runways and made it accessible to contemporary women everywhere. The brand, best known for its sportswear and dress collections, has always focused on current trends. ABS began when Schwartz moved to LA in the mid-eighties after a stint with Esprit and wanted to create clothing for women who desired to look fabulous whether at work or at play. Success followed soon after, with the first ABS retail store opening its doors in Santa Monica in 1988. This store was followed by several others in the U.S., and today the line can be found at high-end department stores and boutiques throughout the world.
The designs of ABS feature the fabric quality and bold trends of the runways, paired with vivid patterns and colors. This attention to trend and quality attracts New York and LA fashionistas as well as celebrities. Mischa Barton, Catherine Zeta Jones and Carrie Underwood have all displayed their devotion to the brand on the red carpet as well as around town. In addition to the popular dress and sportswear lines, ABS has expanded to include lines of jewelry, swimwear, intimates, outerwear, and eyewear.
