About Logitech
Logitech, the popular peripheral device maker, is headquartered out of Romanel-sur-Morges, Switzerland. The company has offices throughout Europe, Asia, and the Americas (including a major office is Fremont, California). The Swiss company was founded in 1981 by two Stanford Alumni, Daniel Borel and Pierliugi Zappacosta, and Giacomo Marini (a former manager at Olivetti). Logitech has made computer keyboards and mice directly for Apple, Dell, Hewlett-Packard (HP), and other major computer manufacturers since the 1980s. Though the first Logitech mice were made in Le Lieu, within the Swiss Canton of Vaud, production facilities were later established in the United States, Taiwan, Ireland, and Suzhou, China. In December of 2008, Logitech announced the landmark production of its billionth mouse.
Logitech currently makes a host of peripherals for computing and entertainment products, including keyboards, mice, trackballs, gaming controllers (for PCs, Xbox, Xbox 360, PS2, PS3, and PSP), webcams, computer speakers, universal remotes, digital writing systems, headphones, wireless audio devices, and audio devices for portable music players and mobile phone. Logitech has developed some key innovations in peripheral technology over the years, including their Darkfield Laser Tracking technology that allows consumers to accurately mouse on a variety of surfaces (including glass). The company controls a number of subsidiaries including 3Dconnexion, Labtec, Harmony, Ultimate Ears, and LifeSize.
