Polaroid was founded in 1937 by Edwin H. Land and originally focused its efforts on polarized sunglasses. An endeavor that grew out of Land's research in polarization that began shortly after he left Harvard University just after his freshman year. By 1948, the company had taken a leap into the camera market and made a name for itself with its most popular product line – instant film cameras. The company made the announcement in February 2008 that it would stop making instant film in order to concentrate on digital photography products. This move received mixed opinions from Polaroid users. Polaroid has been a globally recognized and trusted brand for over 70 years. The company has reinvented instant photography by introducing it into the digital arena with their Polaroid PoGo line of digital products. In addition to their line of digital cameras, Polaroid also manufactures high-definition TVs, digital photo frames, and digital camcorders. Their products tend to provide a family-friendly user interface and features.
