About Sennheiser

The German company, Sennheiser, was founded in 1945 (just a few weeks after World War II) by Fritz Sennheiser under the name Labor W. The original name is short for Laboratorium Wennebostel, named after the village the company had been moved to due to the war. The company's first product was a voltmeter. Labor W began producing microphones a year later in 1946, and by 1955 the company had 250 employees. The official change to the Sennheiser brand name occurred in 1958. Today, the company has over 1,600 employees and a few major subsidiaries, including Georg Neumann GmbH (makers of studio headphones) and Klein + Hummel (manufacturers of high-quality studio monitors). Sennheiser manufactures headphones, microphones, aviation headsets, multimedia headsets, business headsets, conference and information systems, electronic audio components, and speakers. The Sennheiser name has been synonymous with high-quality audio equipment for recording, transmission, and sound reproduction for over 60 years. Sennheiser partnerships range from the Musicians Hall of Fame and Museum in Nashville, Tennessee to the Rock Annex and the House of Blues.
